A conversation with Noah

Due to a change in weather, I had to run some track clothes to Amanda's school today and so after Adam's nap, I loaded the boys up and made the trip to her high school. After giving Amanda her clothes, I ran through McDonalds to get Noah some french fries as a treat for being such a good and patient little boy. About five minutes later, we had this exchange:

Mom: Noah, where are your fries?

Noah: In Baby Ada's mouf... (In baby Adam's mouth)

*Blink Blink* (because Adam is only 10 months old and not exactly on a french fry diet)

Mom: How did YOUR french fries get in ADAM's mouth?

Noah: By No-nah... (No-nah is what Noah calls himself)

Upon closer inspection, and not really wanting to fish a soggy, half chewed french fry out of his mouth, I saw that Adam was actually doing okay with the one that Noah did stuff in there, so I let him keep that one but the rest got confiscated, much to Adam's dismay. I think this is an example of why Adam loves Noah so much. Noah gives him the good contraband. If only mom weren't so uptight!

See....Noah shows great potential here. First of all, he shared. Second of all, he told the truth.

As a kid, I would have looked Mom straight in the face and said "I don't know". At which time Mom would have quickly done a head count and I would have been nailed.

But it would have not stopped there. My Mom would have then said "Danny, there are only 3 people in the car, and I did not do it." At this point, I would have turned on Adam and said "Well, Adam must have stolen them."

At that point, Mom would be computing the time I was going to be grounded and I would be facing yet another week alone in my room.....convinced that Adam should have spoke up and fell on the grenade and protected me by confessing to something he did not do. Darn brothers....that's what I get for sharing my fries.
