Sarah smiles:

Surprise! Sarah got her braces off yesterday. We weren't really expecting that for a couple more months, but the orthodontist determined that her bite is fixed and the braces weren't needed anymore. Sarah was fitted for upper and lower retainers that we pick up next week, but she doesn't have to deal with the braces, bands and expander anymore. Still to be determined is whether she'll need another round of braces in a few years once her permanent teeth are in. Let's keep our fingers crossed that her teeth come in nice and straight! For now though, here's Sarah's beautiful $4,000 smile:

Did you have all the foods she couldn't have with the braces on? Whitney had baby carrots, popcorn, cashews and gummy worms waiting for her. The only thing she couldn't do with her retainers was chew gum which is what got her through the braces. Thank goodness she only had to wear the retainers 24 hours for two months and now it is just while she is sleeping.

it was such a surprise that i didn't even have those things on hand for her. What a great idea that would have been! She took popcorn in her lunch today and I picked up these peanut butter granola bar type things today that she likes but hasn't been able to eat. She's excited about that. And the retainers... yeah, 24 hours a day for three months, then it'll go down to 12-16 hours a day and then, just while she sleeps.
