Noah LOVES Oscar! When Sesame Street comes on, it's a big moment in our house. He loves Elmo and thinks Cookie Monster is funny. He also appreciates the whimsy of Ernie, the OCD factor that Bert has and the wisdom of Big Bird. Really, he likes this show. None of my girls were all that big on it. In fact, I worried about it. Seriously, what kid does not like Sesame Street? I was afraid for their little pre-schooler brains. But Noah... he loves those guys! And his favorite, hands down, is Oscar. I couldn't figure out why. I mean, Oscar's grouchy and no fun. But then it hit me... Oscar is cool because Oscar lives in a TRASH CAN, which, in Noah's world, is HUGE!
Noah loves trash cans, trash trucks, trash men. Loves it all. Thursday's a big day in our house. It's the day the trash man comes. Right now, as I blog this, Noah's nose is pressed to the glass as he watches the recycling man doing his thing. Boys are funny and really very, very simple to figure out. It's not unheard of for us to take a short drive to find some trucks to watch. Backhoes, tractors, buses, fire trucks. It doesn't matter. He loves them all. He frequently can be found with a hot wheel in each hand and a few crammed in his pockets, or driving his Little People bus around and around in circles, filled to the top with little cars. In a little boys world, anything big with wheels is cool, and if you are the person operating them, like his good friend Bob the Builder, or in the case of Oscar, living in them, you are cool too. The girls, on the other hand, would have said "ewwwwwww"! Just another way that boys and girls are different.

And Taylor saw that I had the camera out and decided to take a moment for a photo op. It's too cute not to post:

Darn....and all this time I thought I was deep and mysterious!
Reminds me of a funny thing I once heard. It was the difference between men and women. When you ask a woman "what are you thinking about?, she usually says "nothing". In fact, she is usually thinking a bunch of stuff....most of which we men don't want to know.
When women ask a man "what are you thinking about, men also say "nothing".....and in reality, they are thinking about NOTHING".
We are simple, simple creatures.
